Would like to add a few nights in Budapest at the end of our Italy trip. Our first time in Europe. I am not sure if I should forgo Budapest for a few more nights in Italy Arrive in Florence Florence 3 nights Siena 2 nights CT 2 nights Rome 4 nights ( Fly to Bud, short, inexpensive flight ) Budapest 3 nights Fly home from Budapest
If we did not go to Budapest we would add a night in CT and one more in either Rome or Florence
I would say skip Budapest and add days in Italy. You will have enough of your trip "burned" by travel and hotel moves without losing another day plus by traveling to Budapest. I would add another night to both Florence and Rome, but it really depends on what you are interested in. What time of year will you be traveling?
Budapest is great, one of the cheapest and best places I've been to (really watch out for pickpockets) but I'd pick something a little closer. Do Budapest later, add Hungary on with a trip to someplace like Austria so you can take the train, it'll be more fun and cut down on the stress. I'd say take a couple of nights in Venice and make it a full Italy trip. I've found that the less travel time between cities the better and I was known, when I was young and stupid (now I'm... not so young) to do 13-14 hour train rides.
We are going in June 2012
Flight from Rome to Budapest is less than $100.00 Wizz Air (includes fees & taxes). Flight time is less than 2 hours
