Itinerary Help

Hello! We are going to visit Northern Italy at the end of September for nine days.

1). Overnight flight from States to Zurich arriving early morning Thursday then catching connecting flight to Venice arriving mid-day.
2). Stay overnight in Venice ( 1.5 days)
3). Drive to Lake Garda, possibly stay overnight.
4). Stay in Genova for 3-4 days (our timeshare). Day trips from here.
5). One night CT ??

We would like to possibly do a food tour and cooking class. We enjoy being on the water for views from the coastline. We enjoy small, authentic towns/villages and non-touristy restaurants. We enjoy history and architecture. I’m not much of a shopper.

Stay in Genoa for remainder of trip. Day trips to Verona, Portofina, CT and Milan.

Genoa is far away from Verona, which is closer to Venice and near Lago di Garda. Why not extend your time in Venice and day trip to Verona or stop on your way to Lago di Garda?

I suggest you search this site here https://www.ricksteves.com/watch-read-listen/read/articles and scroll down to Italy then Venice as a start in researching sites and sights.

A guide book would also be useful for logistics and things to do on your trip. Rick Steves usually includes food tours and cooking classes.

Since train from Zurich to Venice has a change in Milan, why not stay in Milan at the start of your trip. Then train to Venice. Then train to Verona, where you can get rental car and drive to Lake Garda and then to Genoa area.
