Itinerary help

I'm thinking of flying into Venice, then
2 nights Venice
2 nights Florence
2 nights CT
3 nights Rome

I'm traveling with my mom (age 67, new hip replacement) - she likes to shop, we both like museums, good food. Are we rushing around too much with this schedule? Should we stick to Venice, Florence, Rome? This is our first trip to Italy, but not to Europe.
Thanks.

Cut out the CT...too much hiking around there. Stick to the cities, where there is shopping, museums, and transportation.

Totally agree in this case. Add another day to Florence and Rome and skip Cinque Terre. If you are flying into Venice and out of Rome this is a good solution.

If you are flying into and out of the same city I would cut out one of the cities to avoid to much train travel. With only nine days and a new hip you might want to consider flying into and out of Rome with 4 days in Florence. Skip Venice for this trip.

Sorry, Donna, but "4 days in Florence, and skip Venice". Venice has to be the most unique city in the world, and to skip it and spend 4 days in Florence would be a huge mistake, in my opinion.
But that's what this forum is all about.
Different strokes for different folks.

I agree with Bill that Venice is just too unique to miss, a wonderful city. But do be aware that the city is a lot of walking over small bridges, even if you're taking water transport to most sites. Don't overschedule yourself there and leave time to wander Venice at a comfortable pace so you can enjoy it.

I like 3 night Venice, 3 nights Florence, 4 nights Rome.

Venice is one of favorites places, Florence I can get by without seeing again.

In all places, just take it easy. Stop at cafes and coffee shops or just on a bench for a break if you need it.

Traveling is the biggest pain, by cutting the CT and the walking up and down lots of steps there, you'll have more time to slow down and enjoy.

I would give more time in Rome and more time in Venice. Skip the CT. Venice was our aboslute favorite place we went on our trip 2 months ago and we hit 6 countries. Venice is full of old buildings with the canals flowing between them, gondolas everywhere. Absolute beautiful city! Bella!!!

Thanks everyone! I think that even though CT sounds beautiful, and my mom's hip is really fine, spending more time in Venice and Florence will be good for us.
