We are leaving Luzern on May 7 and arriving in the Lucca, Tuscany area around May 19. We would like to do Ticino (Ascona, Locarno, Lugano?) and then some of the Italian Lakes .... over to the Dolomiti ... maybe a stopover in Verona at some point and then taking a train down to Lucca (Tuscany) around May 19. Any and all suggestions are welcome, but here's what we're looking at:
- 25th wedding anniversary
- looking for good quality to celebrate, so prepared to go a bit beyond budget
- I've been to Italy 4 times and my husband many as he has extensive family and friends in Lucca and he speaks fluent Italian
- already booked the Cinque Terre after May 19th
- we like to meander quaint streets, go on casual bike rides and walks, enjoy views, and eat good food
- my husband is an avid cyclist, so if we can send him off to climb a mountain pass (in May) and I can stay at a lakeside/mountain view with a book, everyone would say it's the best day ever
Many thanks
If you like to wander quaint old towns take a look at Vittorio Veneto. Also, a place to check out, that I have never been to but have seen so many intriguing beautiful photos is Tremosine sul Garda. It is old, quaint, with spectacular mountain and lake views. I would think that any of those towns along the northern rim of Lake Garda would give you exactly what you are looking for.
