Itinerary for Sardinia/Greece

Any advice for a couple in their 50's traveling in June from the U.S. to Frankfurt (because it is nonstop from our city), then flying to Sardinia to enjoy the beach? Would also like to see Greece, but not sure if a plane or ferry is the easiest and most comfortable. My concerns are the order of the itinerary (do Greece or Sardinia first?), as well as whether we should plan time in Italy, or is it too much for a two week trip if the goal is to relax? I definitely do not feel up to whirlwind sightseeing and crowds, but feel a little guilty bypassing so much. We are planning this on our own. Would you recommend spending a couple days along the way in Italy, and if so, where? Thank you!

I would do what you originally planned, that is Sardinia and somewhere in Greece. Trying to fit in more will just leave you stressed instead of relaxed. Sardinia in June is beautiful before the crowds arrive. And there is just a little sightseeing there too if you really want. Check out different airports like Cagliari and Alghero, there are bound to be direct flights to Greece. Ferry would be long and complicated. Where in Sardinia are you planning to go?

Checking skyscanner.com I cannot find direct flights from Sardinia to Athens.

I would stick to 2 destinations if 'relax' is the goal

Good! Cagliari is an interesting city in itself, our favourite place to stay in Sardinia, a lively city with a historical centre, museums, enormous selection of places to eat and near some of the most beautiful beach destinations. Villasimius and Chia for example, there are also the Roman ruins right on the beach in Nora.... Instead the post above is correct and you can't fly direct to Greece from Cagliari.... sorry I hadn't checked...

If you really want to do both (two weeks in Sardinia would be my ideal kind of trip), you could reverse it and fly to Athens from Frankfurt, then fly back to Italy to then fly or ferry to Sardinia.
