Hi folks,
My husband and I are currently planning a three-week trip to Paris and Italy for late June and July. I have much of the trip planned out, but I'm not sure how to plan the time we're planning to spend in Tuscany and the Cinque Terre.
Our itinerary so far: We are spending 4 days in Paris, flying to Venice, and spending 2.5 days there. Then we plan to take the train to Florence. My plan was to spend 2.5 days/3 nights in Florence, then rent a car for 2 full days and nights in the Tuscan countryside, moving to the Cinque Terre for 3 nights, then finally on to Rome for four nights as our last stop. We fly out of Rome.
I have 2 questions:
- Does it sound like enough time in each location? ( I think it strikes an acceptable balance between time at each location and a variety of sights, although I'd love to spend more time in Tuscany).
- What is the most efficient itinerary after Venice? We were thinking of taking the train to Florence (staying for 3 nights), renting a car somewhere (at the airport or in a smaller city) to drive around Tuscany for two days (staying at a agroturismo for 2 nights as a home base), then we need to drop the car off somewhere where we can catch the train to the CT. Then we'd obviously have to backtrack a bit to get to Rome. But perhaps it's more efficient to do Venice-CT-Florence-Tuscany before heading down to Rome? Which itinerary makes the most sense in terms of time and cost?
Thank you for your advice!
