Itinerary Advice - Any tips??

We are traveling to Italy in late April. I would like to get advice on if our itinerary seems doable and any tips…

Day 1 Arrive @ FCO @7:15 am Rent car, drive to Orvietto, ½ day sightseeing, stay one night,
Day 2 drive to Montepulciano, Peinza, stay the night in Sienna
Day 3 Siena, San Gimignano , other town TBD– drop off car at Florence airport, stay in Florence
Day 4 Florence
Day 5 Florence, late afternoon train to Rom
Day 6 Rome
Day 7 Rome
Day 8 ½ day Rome

Any tips? Any other towns in Tuscany?

The first 3 days are very aggressive. Depending on where you are flying from, you will likely arrive in Florence pretty tired. Immediately driving to Orvieto may be challenging. (I would leave out Orvieto entirely, saving it for your next trip.) Instead, take the bus to Siena; spending nights 1, 2, and 3 there. Sightsee in Siena on Day 1. Rent a car there (on day two) and visit the various Tuscan towns on days 2 and 3. Return the car in Siena and take the bus back to Florence. Then continue as planned.

If you want to squeeze as many towns as possible into your itinerary as possible:

Day 1 - Arrival and Siena
Day 2 - Montepulciano and Pienza
Day 3 - San Gimignano and Voltera
Day 4 - Florence
etc.
In general, changing hotels takes time away from your sightseeing so (IMHO) it is usually best to select a base for at least 2 (or preferably 3) nights.

You might consider renting the car in Orvieto. You can return it there and then take the train to Rome.
This is such a short trip. I would want to add at least a week to it and if I did, I would add Tarquinia.
