I'm going to spend 22 days on my trip, starting in Venice, I think for 6-7 days. At the end I will spend 7 days in Paris and around Paris. The other 8 days are up for grabs. I have been to Rome and Florence before. Is it too long in Venice? Are there some very interesting villages around Venice, or should I travel a bit and visit some other part of Italy. I think the coast might be a bit expensive. I also would have a problem walking up steep hills. I could also spend the extra time visiting other parts of France or surrounding Paris. I would appreciate any suggestions.

12th-18th Venice 6N. I don't think that's too long, but Venice is almost my favorite city in the world (just after Paris). Venice is not really conducive to day trips. It can easily take 45 minutes or more to get to the train station and rooms in Venice are usually very expensive compared with nearby towns.
Another 8 days brings you to the 26th. That period includes Easter weekend. I have no idea what will be open in Italy on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. You may want to start a new thread with that title.
I believe that timetable has you in Paris on May 1. It's a big holiday; expect that many places will be closed.

Leave Vienna early in the morning with a train to Bregenz. This is about halfway to Paris. Spend the half day in Bregenz then train to Paris the next day.
And a weeek in Venice is about 2-3 days too long, IMO.

Chani, You sound like me. Venice and Paris, wonderful. I only spent 1 day in Venice on my previous trip. Paris I dearly love. I have 22 days, and am for sure spending time in those 2 cities. Would you just split the time between them or perhaps go to Florence for 3-4 days. I have been there but many years ago. What's the longest you've stayed in Venice and how did you spend your days. I guess I will skip the side trips. I'm staying in Spinea. Do you know how easy is to get into Venice?
