Itinerary - 14 days trip from Rome to Venice

Hi,

My husband and I are planning a 14 days trip to Italy. We are arriving to Rome from Toronto on May 10 and flying home from Venice on May 25. We are not into visiting museams all day long but more like into walking the city discovering new places, visiting the major attractions and an a couple of art museans here and there.
After some initial research we are thinking of following itinerary. It is not set on stone so we would appreciate your comments and suggestions.
• May 10: Arriving Rome at noon
• May 11: Rome
• May 12: Rome
• May 13: Rome
• May 14: Rome
• May 15: Train to Florence
• May 16: Florence
• May 17: Florence
• May 18: Florence – day trip to Sienna
• May 19: Florence – day trip to Pisa and Lucca (half day for each place0
• May 20: Train to Milan
• May 21: day trip to Como
• May 22: Train to Venice
• May 23: Venice
• May 24: Venice - day trip to Burano and Murano
• May 25: Flying home out of Venice

thank you

I think 4 cities in 2 weeks is a good pace and the order makes sense, so your proposed itinerary looks good to me. My one comment is that your day to explore Milan is a Monday, which is a day of the week when many sights in Italy are closed. I suggest checking the Monday schedule for any sights you wish to visit, and then adjusting your day to explore Milan if needed.

Your plan works; you have enough day trips to offset spending all day in indoor museums.

I've heard some many goods things about the city from friends that have there. We 2 days trip, we are left with 2 full days to explore the city and visit the iconic sights.

I was checking the main sites in Milan, and most of them are closed on Monday. Duomo Cathedral and Galleria Vittorio Emanuel II are open daily.

Very good plan. Not sure why the deviation to Milan and Como for only two days. Consider Umbria instead (Orvieto or Perugia).

We want to visit Lake Como that's the main reason why we are stoping in Milan.
We were considering staying overnight in Como ( Varena) but that will means to stayi one less day in Rome or Florence. We are not sure is worth the trade.
thank you for your comments.

Why not spend the nights of May 20 and 21 staying in Varenna instead of Milan?
