Iten feedback requested

I have been reading this site religiously as I have planned our trip. I have learned so much from all of you and wanted to say thanks. Here's my plan. Traveling "close to ground" first 3 weeks of March. Oriveto 3 nts, Florence 3 nts, Sienna 2 nts -- next 6 nts free want to go to Ct for sure -- Venice 2 nts, Rome 3 nts - home. I have been to Rome & Florence before. Comments?

  1. Can you fly open jaw? It's a long way by train from Venice to Rome.

  2. CT in March. Not such a good time, unless you can decide on the spot. If the weather is good, it will be nice. Otherwise, not. Also check how much is open - there may be a lot of seasonal closures. If you want coastal, you might do better at Amalfi

  3. Verona is lovely and close to Venice

CT is worth checking out, but Chani brings up a good point. I might be wrong but I think the trails in March of this year were closed because of all the rain they got. I think that is atypical but be prepared for the possibility that you may not be able to hike the trail. Otherwise I still think it is worth visiting, the towns are beautiful.

We took a very cheap easyJet flight from Venice to Rome. Not the greenest choice, but we only had a week this time and needed to save time and $.

The order seems a little off. Orvieto is an hour outside of Rome, so it seems odd to start there and then wind up going to Rome via Venice.

Have you already booked your flights? If not, I would suggest flying into Venice and zigzagging your way down to Rome (or the reverse if you prefer). So -- Venice, Verona/CT/whatever else you put in your 6 nights, Florence, Siena, Orvieto, Rome.

The open jaw was not an option on the free mileage tickets we are using. I know March is not ideal but again the only time we could both get 3 weeks off that except August and we could not swing high season.
