Italy with my 29 year old son

Hello, my son and I are traveling to Italy in November 2025. We are flying into Venice (2 days) train to Florence (3 days) then train to Rome. We will be staying in Rome as well as going to the Amalfi Coast, etc. I'm looking for some information as to what to expect in November since it is off season, as well as places to visit in each city. What is closed during this time of year (if anything)? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Are you staying on the Amalfi Coast? You might only have access to buses around the coast as the ferries all but stop in October. It will seem very quiet in comparison to the sunny days of the spring and summer (and early fall). I am dying to have someone visit Salerno in the end of November because of the Luci di artista Christmas lights they put up :)

It will get dark VERY early (just looked up November 15 in Rome, 4:49pm) so plan anything you need daylight for accordingly. The early sunset makes me sad hahaha

There are so many places to visit in each city, what types of things made you decide on those places? (because if there isn't something in those places you want to see, no need to go!) That is a good start. If you have space in your itinerary (because you should be thinking of nights, not days, so 2 nights in Venice means probably 1 full day without counting the arrival day jetlag, 3 nights in Florence mean 2 full days, etc) after you map it out, you can share your interests and we can suggest some things.

We were in Italy that time of Year. We did have spectacular weather in Rome and Rome was busy. We had a day of rain in Florence and temps were highs in high 60s low 70s. We also had a full day of rain when we were on the Amalfi Coast. The AC towns were fairly quiet and some shops closed, especially in Positano.
