Hi, all,
It's been awhile as work and grad school have kept me from traveling much internationally. However, this summer, I am hopefully taking my parents to Italy. They will meet my extended family and I in Rome in mid-July, where we will spend 4 days with them, prior to their departure. After that, we have 6 days before returning to the United States. We have no set itinerary and have only thrown around some ideas. However, while I don't mind moving from hotels/AirBnBs, I suspect my mom would prefer to have 1-2 home bases, rather than traveling every couple of days. Both of my parents are relatively active, so I have little concern about that.
- We are comfortable with being "done" with the sights of Rome upon the departure of my extended family, giving us 6 full days elsewhere before departing on the 7th day.
- We are open to departing from either Rome or Florence (but Florence appears to have more affordable flights for our departure).
- We are interested in seeing Tuscany and visiting wineries in this region.
- We are interested in seeing Pompeii.
I'd love any insights or suggestions you may have. I realize this is a very loose "itinerary," but it's been a long time since I've visited Italy and I'm struggling to come up with a plan that makes sense and takes into consideration my parents' travel style. Thank you in advance!
