Italy, Vienna & Budapest

We have two and half weeks to travel with the idea of visiting Rome, Florence, Venice and then on to Vienna and finally to Budapest our ancestral country. With three days in Rome and Budapest and two days in the other cities. Is this too much to do in our eighteen day timeframe? What is the best method to secure hotels or inns for such short time frames in all the cities especially Venice?
Thanks - Bob

I see you didn't get much feedback. This forum is just about all Italy. You're taking on a very aggressive itinerary. You could hit the highlights, however and do the trip. Travel from place to place is best done by train. I would suggest you spend 4 nights in Rome, 3 nights in Florence, 3 nights in Venice and 3 nights in Vienna, with the balance of time in Budapest. Some nights could be spent on the train. Venere.com, AirBnB.com and Booking.com are great places for places to stay in Italy. There are hundreds and hundreds to stay in virtually every Italian town/region. We're staying at TripAdvisor's #1 rated bed and breakfast 20 miles south of Rome (OliveTreeHill.com) They didn't even take a credit card when reserving, saying our word is good. Vienna is a fabulous town, and K&T Boardinghouse (www.ktboardinghouse.at/en/1/home.html) is the place to stay. Tina and Kaled have two properties in great locations, just a few blocks from the Ringstrasse. They're good personal friends with Rick Steves. Ask Tina if she knows any B&B's to stay at in Budapest. She's Hungarian, and has close friends operating bed and breakfasts in Budapest (and Prague.) By the way, she's a doll. If you move fast and are efficient travelers, it's possible. Have a great trip!
