First, get the Steves' guide books for those areas. Second use your local library for travel DVDs, etc.. Third, tell us what you like and dislike so that we do not waste our time recommending things that will not interest you. And, finally, come back with specific questions that can be answered in the space provided. Otherwise we have to write a guide book for you. Question three is easy - Train.

try to fly open jaw, into Venice out of rome If you are locked into Rome/Rome then on arrival immediately go to Venice and then work your way back to Rome to finsh your trip.

And the way to find "open jaw" tickets is to choose the "Multiple Cities" option on the website of your choice for airfare.

Frank gives good advice. You should read through guide books to find the sites that interest YOU. We all like different things and us making blind recommendations helps no one. I think once you start reading up on the cities you plan to visit you'll find tons of things that you are interested in. Make a list and share it with us. Then we can help you put your list in a good working order. Be sure to tell us how many days you plan to spend in each city and which sites are your priorities and which can be left out if you run out of time. Donna
