I am planning a 10 day trip to Europe in May. Torn between doing 5 days in Budapest and 5 days in Prague. Or doing 3 days In Rome, 2 days in Florence and 5 days in Amalfi. Would love some insights thanks!

They both sound good. One is a little more in depth and one is a little more see the world in attitude. I guess I would cut Amalfi to 3 days and put a day in each Rome and Florence if I went in that direction. For the other trip I would take a day out of Prague and put it in Budapest (add a day trip out of Budapest) or take two days out of Prague (its really not that large) and do an overnight trip out of Budapest (Eger or wine country maybe).
All are fine destinations, so it's only the little things that can distinguish them, like flight and other travel details.
As much as I love Italy, I would not want to be in Rome next year because of the Jubilee
Cala, the Jubilie is a great excuse to go. A wonderful life experience .... maybe just part of the ten days though, then skip over to Croatia or something. Oh, heck, even Budapest. Ryan and Wizz both do Rome to Budapest in about 1:45 non-stop starting at $40. But if you care checking luggage, count on closer to $100 (I looked up 15 May). That way you do a little of both trip ideas.
