I am planning on visiting Italy July 18th for about 10 days with my husband and two kids, ages 11 and 12. We want to visit Rome, Pompeii, and Amalfi coast and travel to Malaga Spain to meet family there where we plan on staying for another 10 days. We were thinking of flying into Rome from Detroit and fly out of Madrid back to Detroit. Any suggestions on the cheapest way to travel those routes would be appreciated.
Start with sidestep.com using the Multi-City option. It will check places like Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, and the airline websites and display the best deals available. (It doesn't work with Southwest Airlines, but that's not applicable in this case!)
BTW, I see you're from Flint Township. My brother lives in Clarkston and often chooses to fly out of the Flint airport. While I know they don't have direct international flights (except maybe Canada), you could likely get to Italy via NYC or similar. He says it saves them a ton of headaches over DTW!
Happy trails,
Melissa
