Saw this posting on another Italy travel forum and copied/pasted it to share with the Rick Steves Forum. I know it is not a lock but it is sure sounding good for the relaxing of travel protocols for Italy -- especially the dropping of a negative covid test result from those arriving from non EU countries -- like the United States.
*BREAKING NEWS: ITALY PREPARES TO LIFT COVID TESTING REQUIREMENT FOR FOREIGN ARRIVALS
Corriere della Sera is reporting today that the Italian Government is likely to unveil a plan of relaxed Covid restrictions EFFECTIVE APRIL 1 (in anticipation of Easter) which would involve:
- Dropping the Covid negative test requirement for foreign arrivals from non-E.U. countries (unclear whether there would be any exceptions, such as wholly unvaccinated persons);
- Dropping the self-isolation requirements for foreign arrivals (unclear whether there would be any exceptions);
- Dropping the requirement to present a super green pass or functional equivalent to check into hotels and similar facilities;
- Dropping the requirement to present a super green pass or functional equivalent to dine in OUTDOOR restaurants, cafes, bars and similar facilities;
- Starting in May (??) dropping the requirement to present a super green pass or functional equivalent to dine in INDOOR restaurants, cafes, bars and similar facilities; and
- Recognition of foreign vaccination documents even without a QR code.
