Would like to find in Italy, out of the way town-near water, easily accessible by car-easy, flat walking. I fractured a vertabrae last march. Nervous about all the hills & steps etc. any ideas?
Main street in Sorrento is flat but the side streets are slightly down hill toward the ocean, all well paved and easy to navigate. We stayed at the Hotel Antiche Mura which is about 1/2 block from the main street, this is a first rate hotel with wonderful staff and recommended by R.S. The hotel is also only a few blocks from the Circumvesuviana train station. OR PADUA, great town very near Venice, just a very short train ride from Venice. The piazzas and streets in Padua were easy to navigate plus a lot to see and do there.
Do some research on some of the seaside towns in Liguria - Sestre Levante or Levanto should work for you.
