Hello all! My wife and I will be travelling to Italy in August for the first time and could use some tips for planning our travels. Here is a breakdown of our current itinerary: Fly into Rome in the afternoon and train direct to Florence. 2 full days in Florence followed by 2 days in Tuscany (with a rental car). Train from Florence to Amalfi (Conca Dei Marini). 3 Full Days in Conca Dei Marini. Train back to Rome and spend 3 full days there before flying back to the US. The transportation piece that I am concerned about it is getting from Florence to Conca Dei Marini. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Welcome to the forum!
Your plan is good
To get 2 full days in Florence and Tuscany that means 3 nights in each
Where exactly did you plan to stay in Tuscany and where did you plan to drop off rental car?
Florence to Conca dei Marini ( which is close to Amalfi but does not have ferry so you might want to reconsider?)
Take train from Florence ( or wherever you drop car) to Salerno
Then ferry to Amalfi - ferry is just a 10 min walk from station
From Amalfi take a taxi or arrange for driver to Conca dei Marini
( only other option would be a bus which will probably be extremely crowded!)
Or private driver from Salerno to Conca
Reverse to get to Rome
Train from Salerno to Rome

Florence 3 nights
Tuscany 3 nights
Conca on AC 3 nights
Rome 3 nights
Thanks for the quick response! We plan to rent a car in Florence, stay in San Donato in Poggio, and then return rental car to Florence before hopping on a train to Salerno.
This thread has directions for getting in and out of Florence without ZTL violations-thanks to Roberto

The trip from San Donato to Florence to Salerno to Amalfi to Conca Dei Marini will take the whole day. I wouldn’t do that unless there’s something you must do or see in that town. Maybe go to Cinque Terre instead of the Amalfi Coast.
