So confused...... does Roma pass cover transport from FCO to city as well as in the city? Does Venice have a pass for islands, vaporetta, etc?

Not sure on the Roman but for venice you can get a
vaporetto pass that is good for all public water transportation in the lagoon: Burano, Torcello, San Servolo, San Lazzaro...and Murano.
It does not cover the (private) traghetto, but which costs only .50 euro per trip, or the Alilaguna transport from the airport, or private taxis. (Best not be tempted by a "free taxi" to Murano...this frequently leads to a high-pressure sales job, and inflated prices.)

The Roma pass does not cover transportation from FCO into Rome.
