Does anyone know the difference between base and economy in first class on Trenatalia. We are traveling Rome to Venice, Venice to Florence, and Florence to Rome.
Just look it up at trenitalia.com. find the train you want and click on the selection and it will show all the available price options.
Donna, Trenitalia seems to use a tiered pricing system, similar to that used by the budget airlines. The cheapest tickets (Super Economy) are sold well in advance, and when those are gone the prices move to the next tier (Economy). The last (and most expensive) tier is "Base". There's no difference in comfort levels or other facilities. Passengers who got "Super Economy" tickets will be sitting in the same seats as those who are travelling on "Base" tickets. The only difference in comfort levels will be between first and second class (I rarely pay for first class). Happy travels!
