Italy Train Tickets for Children

I want to buy train tickets on line. When entering the number of tickets you have an option of adults or children. No matter where I look I can not find what defines the age range a child. There's a little i button by the child but the resulting box is always blank with Firefox, Chrome and IE.

Can someone please tell me the max age? I'm traveling with two 17 year olds. Also is this for Euro children only?

Thank you

Children are UNDER 15. At 17 they are adults and pay full price.

Discounts for youths (15-25) and seniors (60+) are minimal and require buying a separate, annual discount card, which you would not bother doing for a short stay. Advance-purchase discounts are now the better deal. Age-based discounts on Italian trains and most others are available regardless of residence.

The "I" button worked with my Internet Explorer, stating the age range of 4-14 for child rates on "national" trains and 4-12 for regional trains. The Tarifa Familia rate is for children 4 - 11 (traveling before 12th birthday), which is the more common child definition for European trains, while the Bimbi Gratis offer is for 4-14. Under 4 travel free without a ticket.
