While I am an experienced Europe rail rider, I rarely have ever needed to make reservations. I either buy a p-to-p or use a 1st class pass. I leave for Italy in a week, and I already have purchased my railpass (1st class). I have read in RS books that Italy requires seat reservations. Can reservations be purchased in the machines, or do I have to wait in line at the ticket offices each time? I want some sense of flexibility in my itinerary, but am worried that waiting until the day of a trip might be too risky (ex. Florence to Venice, Venice to Bolzano-Bozen).
