Italy: train from Bolzano to Venice in August 2024

I am trying to book and buy train tickets from Bolzano to Venice on August 2, 2024. On the Trenitalia site, I am told that the seats on train 311 from Verona to Venice are already sold out (see website meassgebelow). Are seats truly sold out (or only discounted tickets), or am I trying to book/buy too early?
This particular train takes 3 hrs 11mins whereas other alternatives take about 4.5 hours. Any advice welcome. As we are seniors we prefer to book and buy in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum! Looks like the train you can't book is an EC train. "EuroCity (EC) is the name used for international cross-border day train connections between Austria, France , Germany, Italy, Poland and Switzerland, as well as Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Denmark." i hope someone will chime in on the reason why you can't book that specific train.

This is a connection that involves two international trains, EC81 from Munich (to Bologna) and EC 311 from Zurich (to Venice) with a transfer in Verona. Such connections can often only be reserved late, and Trenitalia may not even make any reservations at all for domestic services, precisely because these are international trains. You could try booking the trip with SBB (sbb.ch). If anywhere, it will work there.

This is very helpful. Unfortunately, though SBB also shows that no seats are available for the 13:30 train from Verona to Venice. Could that possibly be true three months out?

Thanks!
