Do not drive in Rome! The logical order for travel would be Venice, Florence (half daytrip to Pisa), Rome, Sorrento and Naples. You can get to all these cities by train. You are planning five cities plus one daytrip in twelve days (eleven not counting your departure day). You might consider Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast as a daytrip from Naples to save a hotel transfer.

Since they are all served by train, we consider trains to be faster and simpler than driving between these destinations. All those train tickets are sold through www.trenitalia.com, or in train stations as you go (and printable schedules through DB); except the leg from Naples to Sorrento by local Circumvesuviana train or ferry (buy tickets on the spot for either). Driving in/out of Florence and on local roads around Sorrento and Amalfi were the most frustrating driving spots I have ever experienced, with heavy traffic and apparently few rules, other than "don't hit anyone."
