Italy, then Greece, enough time?

I wanted to go to Rome Venice, Amalfi Coast, then possibly fly over to Santorini. I have about 15 days....... Enough time, or too rushed?

Way too rushed - save Greece for another time. I would suggest Sicily, but even that is rushed in 15 days. Since you're going to the Amalfi Coast, you might go a little further south to Paestum, an ancient Greek city on the coast. Great archeological site, good musuem, and a beach! An overnight there will give you a little head start on your trip to Greece.

Bryan, I agree with the previous reply. While it might be feasible, that's far too much for such a short trip. With a flight to Santorini, you'll likely have to go through Athens, so that's basically going to take a full travel day each way. The "Amalfi Coast" is a fairly large area. Which places are you planning to visit? When is this trip taking place? Could you clarify whether the 15 days includes your two flight days? Are you planing to use open-jaw flights (ie: inbound Venice, outbound Rome)? Happy travels!

Yup, too rushed. Even just the time in Italia.....little bit on the rushed side. Save Greece for another time.

What about...... 4 days in Rome 4 days in Amalfi Coast
the rest in Spain, like Barcelona, or San Sebastian?

If this is your first trip to Italy, I'd suggest staying in Italy for the entire trip. Consider flying into Venice or Naples and then flying home reverse, IF cost/connections make sense for Michigan departures. Santorini is fabulous, but I would suggest saving that for a future trip...maybe a Greek Isle/Turkey combination...even a cruise (small ships are wonderful if you are not a casino/party-hearty type, but the large mega ships also offer similar itineraries). Back to the topic of Italy: don't miss the Tuscan countryside.....that alone could merit 3-4 days of visiting various hill towns on the way from Rome to Amalfi. You might even consider a night or two on Capri, which is fabulous when the crowds of day trippers have left the island. Don't miss Ravello along the Amalfi....incredible views. What I would suggest is looking through some group tour itineraries, such as what Rick Steves offers under Tours on this web site or what Tauck tours offers.................NOT that I am suggesting that you sign up for a group tour, but to give you a sense of what there is to see and how the tours pace things..........then add extra time for individual travel, since it is often possible for a group tour to move a bit more efficiently with various modes of transportation and advance bookings. But, you will get a feel for what all there is to see. Then hit Trip Advisor, where you can take a look at photos various people have posted of the different sites. I always leave Italy wishing I had more time. We usually do not repeat countries (so many other places to see), but we have returned to Italy and probably will again sometime. Love it!! So take it a bit more slowly and enjoy.......you'll have no regrets. But do see the Greek Isles......someday!
