I want to buy a pre paid SIM card for my ipad mini 4 when I get to Italy. I have read that I may need to provide an ITALIAN TAX CODE # to make the purchase. I read that sometimes the store selling the sim may "fudge a number" so you get buy the SIM. I have also read you can create a # online yourself which could potentially cause some problems. Anyone with knowledge / experience on if I need to bother with this - if it will an issue?
Also I read that Vodaphone has best coverage speed and competitive price. Thx

The Italian Codice Fiscale (tax id number) is based on name, sex, and date of birth, therefore anybody can create one. There are plenty of online generators such as this one:

For foreign state enter: STATI UNITI D'AMERICA
The store will generate one for you. I don't know what problem that would generate. Nobody cares about that number.
