Hello,
Planning a trip in July with my husband and I, and 4 adult kids in their 20's. We are a pretty adventurous active group. Like to hike, boat, take cooking classes, food tours, drink local wine, immerse ourselves in the culture. Wanted to pick 2 home base locations and were thinking of starting with Lake Como then Switzerland- or vise versa (none of us have been to Switzerland). We will be renting airbnb's.
Wondering thoughts on 2 options I was thinking about:
1st- Fly into Milan- train to Varenna in Lake Como- stay there 3 or 4 days and explore the villages (my husband and I have been there but kids have not)- train to Tirano and take the Bernina Express to Chur (although long seemed like it might be worth it for the scenery?)- possible stay overnight in Chur and then train to Lake Lucerne and stay there 3 or 4 days and depart from Zurich back to NJ.
OR
2nd- Fly into Milan- train to Varenna and stay 3-4 days exploring the lake and then travel to Lake Maggiore and maybe stay in Stresa for 3-4 days then fly out of Milan to NJ. Basically exploring the 3 lakes- Lake Como, Lugano, and Maggiore.
Thanks for any and all thoughts on this-
Erin
