Italy Summer 2024 Trip with Kids — Itinerary Help!

Hi All,

We just booked our first trip to Italy with our kids (9 and 11)). We just booked flights for a 15 night stay. We are flying into Venice in first week of June and out of Naples. We wanted to mix up the locations with cities and areas with beach/lake. Any help or thoughts on our initial itinerary would be much appreciated. Here are 3. proposed itineraries:

1. Venice (3 nights)

Lake Garda (3 nights)
Rome (3 nights)
Ischia (5 nights)
Naples (1 night - visit Pompeii)

2. Venice (4 nights)

Lake Garda (2 nights)
Rome (4 nights)
Ischia (4 nights)
Naples (1 night)

3. Venice (4 nights)

Lake Garda (3 nights)
Rome. (3 nights)
Ischia (5 nights — ferry to Naples in morning — flight leaves at 1230 pm)

Thanks for any help!

Both 1 and 2 look fine
Rome can always use extra time

I prefer to be in departure city night before flight and not reliant on ferry in the am
Stuff happens

1 would be my first choice
Don’t like 2 night stays which really only gives you 1.5 days in location

The ferries can be canceled if a storm comes in. I agree with above, spend the night before in your departure city. Safe travels!

Lake Garda water temps in early June are 68 degrees! The kids may go in but doubt any adult would consider it.
Ischia temps in late June are much nicer At 75-79. Plus there all kinds of open air spas.

My preference is #1.

NOT this.

It appears you contemplate traveling from Ischia to Naples and seeing Pompeii that same day? That looks to be a very busy day.

We plan on doing Pompeii when we leave Rome. Get early fast train to Naples train station then have private or taxi driver take us to Pompeii for 2.5 hour or so tour, then back to Naples port and on to Ischia.
