Italy strike June 20th

Hello,
I am travelling from Florence to Rome on June 20th by train. I have a cruise booked on June 21. There is a national strike on June 20th and trying to find information on the strike but I can’t seem to find any.

My hotel in Florence is already reserved and none refundable and was quite expensive.

My train is 8953 italo going to Rome termini.

Does anyone have more information? Is this train likely to be cancelled last minute? Should I just book another hotel a day earlier in Rome and change my train or should I wait last minute? I really need to be in Rome on the 20th.

Thank you

Thank you

Italotreno will publish its own list of trains that it guarantees will run as scheduled during the strike, so you will need to go to Italo’s website and look for the posting of guaranteed trains. Sometimes, Italotreno publishes the list for each strike just a few days before the actual strike.

You might consider just simply booking a bus ticket from Florence to Rome for June 20. The intercity buses in Italy are normally not impacted by strikes as they are private companies and are not targets of the June 20 strike as the train operators and airports are.
I would book a bus ticket for a bus departing after your scheduled train departure at 10:03am. If your train runs. you can take the train. If it doesn’t run, well you already have a bus ticket as a backup plan and are good to go. Note that the Villa Costanza bus station is about five miles from the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station.
