Italy/ Spain: 11 days

Looking to go to Spain & Italy for honeymoon in October. Spain- interested in Seville, Granada, Malaga (or another beach town). Italy interested in Lake Cuomo area, Cinque Terre, and Rome. I know it's a lot of moving around, so any recommendation is appreciated.

Here's my recommendation: Move around less. Srsly. You list six places for 11 days. Or am I misunderstanding your question?

My recommendation is to cut a couple of places at least. Also keep in mind that Spain and Italy are not close to each other, so you lose efficiencies of adjacency. Though by flying, you could mitigate that. I won't presume to tell you what to cut or how to decide - those are decisions only you can make. But the following might help you to decide. Sevilla is a 2-3 night city. There are also options for daytrips, so it's easy to spend a few extra nights. Granada is a minimum 2 night city. To lay on the beach at Malaga, you'll want 3 nights to enjoy at least 2 days on the beach. Granada, Sevilla and Malaga are all about 3 hours away from each other by bus or (limited) train. So facter a half day travel for each. Lake Cuomo could be a 3-4 night stay. A very relaxing place popular with honeymooners and couples. Most people also spend a day or so in Milano and fly in-out from there. Cinque Terre is another 3-4 night stay. Not as many beaches, but lots of quaint towns, hiking and romantic inlets. It is 3-4 hours by train from Milano. Rome is a minimum 4 night stay, or you just don't see much. It can easily make for a longer stay. Rome and Milano are about 5 hours by train. Hope this helps plan. Congrats on your wedding.

A few years ago we flew into Malaga and went directly to Nerja. Relaxed on the beach( no Hawaiian style) went to a little white town and enjoyed a tiny rooftop pool for three nights. It was all very laid-back and delightful. Then we road the very nice bus to Granada for two nights followed by a train ride to Seville for three nights. It was all fun. We then went on to Barcelona followed by three more weeks following the coast ending in Positano. Personally I am not a huge fan of CT preferring nearby Santa Margherita but I wonder if it will be warm enough in October. My daughter studied at the University of Florence and visited Como in October and it rained. Have you considered Rome, a night in nearby hill town, Orvieto, which is a charmer and a very accessible visit from Rome, and ending in the most romantic Amalfi coast. A hotel on the cliffs in Sorrento with beautiful views and sunsets. Ferry boats to Capri and Positano and a visit to Pompeii. it is further south so the weather maybe safer. In October the weather isn't as reliable and so cities offer more sights indoors.

looks like you are starting in spain so see as much as poss then fly into Milan and see Lake Como only(very romantic espec Varenna. Or if you fly into Rome see Rome only. 11 days is not much for the areas you wish to see and of course travel time is lost day or two. congrats. these are beautiful places to visit. Plan for rain as Oct can be wet.

Pick one country. Trying to do justice to two countries in 11 days is not vacation/honeymoon, it's a death march. Within that one country, if it is Ialy, pick two places. Rome and the Amalfi Coast seem perfect for an October honeymoon. Perfect! You have an easy flight from NY to Rome, and could transfer to Sorrento upon arrival. Tour there for 5 days, then end your trip in Rome where you can keep more than busy for the rest of your trip, maybe with a daytrip to Orvieto to ge thtat hill-town perspective. I haven't been to Spain in years, but I suspect someone on this board could outline a similar plan for just Spain as an alternative to Italy.
