Italy sim cards

We arrived in Pisa a couple weeks ago and a nice English speaking guy at a small shop a block from the train station installed a Digi card with 32 GB for a month in my phone for 35e. 2000 minutes and 2000 text. It's a great deal and took about 20 minutes. Digi uses TIM network and it's mostly 4g coverage. It's worked well all over Italy. I use a Samsung Galaxy s9+ and the card has worked like a dream. I recommend it highly

The question is, do you really need 32GB for a trip (good for a month?). I might use 10GB in a month, at the most. And my trips are always less than that. So, 35 euros would be much more than I'd need to spend. I suppose some people might want/use a lot of data, so for them that might be a good deal.

It wasn't a question of how many GB's for me. I will use about 10 GB in a month. 32 GB will insure you don't run out no matter how much you data you use. Compared to 10 bucks a day for a US plan...its a deal! No need to top-off the plan is worth some piece of mind for me. Digi worked well for me.

2,000 minutes to where? If non-italian numbers are included this offer is better than the € 30 Tim plan for tourists.

2000 minutes-2000 text within Italy and 200 minutes worldwide. Digi uses the TIM network so the coverage is great. This plan was way more than I needed but I won't have to look for some place top off since I will not come close to using it all and the price was good. Took 20 minutes for the guy to set and I was off and running

It sounds like you purchased an in country card and not a "special deal" for travelors that so many people (not all) seem to have trouble with. Maybe that is the way to go for a seamless transaction. Anyone else have a similar experience, i.e. with a non tourist special deal?

Thanks

It was an "in country" card. Don't really know if it was a deal or not. It was a lot better deal than a card from the states. It was way too much data but I was only looking for a card I didn't need to top off at some point and for 32GB I thought it was a good price. It worked before I left the shop & was on the TIM network which is the best. Never a problem thru the whole trip of a month and it worked on 4G everywhere we traveled. Changed back to my network card on the plane home and it was like it never happened. All my apps worked for the Digi card with no problems. It was really nice to purchase train tickets just before boarding the train on my phone without standing in a line or using the ticket machines. GPS was my biggest need and worked great walking around every city we visited.

Thanks for the tip and I’m with you on not having to worry about running out of data. Hope it works on an iPhone. I will have 3 phones to deal with and am dreading this aspect of our coming trip.
