Italy, Sicily & Portugal, OH MY!

As of now I have reservations for the "Venice, Florence & Rome," followed by "The Best of Sicily" followed by the "Heart of Portugal," RS Tours. September - October. Yes -- I know, may be extreme. All together about 6 weeks, which I don't believe will be any trouble, and the tour dates line-up nicely. Just kind of wondering about any general feelings of such a plan. To me the three seem similar enough to avoid any real real culture shock, and different enough for variety. Air flights to and from, and between might be a little involved. I am well aware my inquiry is asking mostly for subjective, personal opinions -- there are no rights or wrong. Interested also in personal favorites that are not part of the tours. Always a nice amount of free time and I have been known to stray away at times. All comments appreciated. Thank you.

Not extreme at all-I think it sounds wonderful. I've been on the Portugal and Sicily tours and to the three cities several times but not on an organized tour. I think you have made some wonderful tour choices and will have a great time! I replied to your question about the Portugal tour and about all I could add here is to make good use of your free time on all these tours by just sitting outdoors in a cafe (or similar) and enjoying just "being there". RS tours are generally busy so if this were me, I would take full advantage of that built in down time to just wander and wonder at where you are and how lucky you are to be there!

I'd have one or two (or a couple dozen) recommendations IF I knew how many days to you have before VRF, between VFR and Sicily, between Sicily and Portugal, afterward? Have you been to either country before and if so, where? Are you planning to fly into Venice? Out of Porto?

I love the idea of "bingeing" on RS tours. 3 in a row - how fun!!

Nasty job, but some one has to do it! :-)

Do not be concerned about doing 3 tours in a row. I recall someone reporting on doing 5 ( or 6?) in succession.

Have fun!
