This is a brief heads up for anyone using the RS Venice 2025 edition for trip planning. Ticket prices for every site/ transit/ combo ticket have increased from €2- €5 and more from the prices mentioned in that edition.
The only places that I had to pay cash/ no CC are for buying fruit or other things at open air markets in Padua and the church in Murano.
Loving my time in the Veneto so far and the weather has been great- blue skies, no rain, temps about 25 C in mid afternoon.
I haven't compared the prices for Florence to the guidebook, but in July I saw a sharp increase in restaurant prices compared to July 2025. I saw the same sharp increases in hotel prices.
I read an article on an Italian online newspaper about a week ago, that prices at the restaurants have increased 8% on average in the last year alone and by 368% compared to the beginning of this century when the Euro was launched.
It might be time to consider less famous destinations. In some less known smaller towns of Tuscany I am still able to dine at a restaurants for 20€-25€ per person. Not so much in Florence or Montepulciano.
It’s generally a safe assumption that the price for anything, anywhere will be higher than the price listed in any guidebook.
Ditto to Slate's post. By the time a guidebook goes to print those sorts of details can already be outdated! It's generally recommended not to use guidebooks for things such as ticket prices, closure dates, hours, etc. The official websites for attractions, passes, local transport, restaurants and the like are best for the most current information.
Some, but not all, updates (such as price increases) to guidebook info can be found here:

Glad you're having such great weather! :O)
Always a good idea to go online and look at the website of any place you want to visit. Increased prices, changed hours, even total, or partial, closings are not unheard of. One place even changed locations entirely between seeing it in a guidebook and me visiting.
Nice update. Thank you
