italy portion of my trip

Now everything is pretty set my good friend suggested that i switch up my italy portion just a bit
3 nights venice
2 nights florence
one night either Genoa or Cinque terre
then we are doing one night in milan to break up the train ride to Paris.

I think this sounds ok in theory but I worry about not enough time in florence (even if we cut out alot of art), and that it is spreading ourselves just a bit thin.

Only you can decide. I saw very little art in Florence (one hour or so in the Accademia and that's about it, except for churches of course) and 4 days was not nearly enough. It just depends on you and what you like to see and what about Florence interests you. There's a TON of non-art to do and see there, like the markets, the food, the churches, the jewelry shops, the GELATO :D, etc.

There is alot that will come down to personal tastes and interests. I found Florence was a tad,, um, boring, when I was young and travelling around with a friend for a few months. We thought two nights there was more then enough for us, but we spent weeks on Greek isles,, so.. it really comes down to your tastes.

It may also have had something to do with trip order( for us) the first few dozen churches , museums and art galleries are interesting,, but eventually you can and do hit saturation.. A night somewhere like Cingue Terra is a nice break.

bluedenim,

Given the circumstances, you might consider 2 nights in Venice, 2 nights in Florence, 1 night in the Cinque Terre and then perhaps one night in Milan. That should make a fairly easy trip to Paris as I believe there's a direct train from there.

Cheers!

Thanks Ken
I have decided not to cut a night off of paris.
I don't want to cut Venice down by a night.
I think that Florence 2 nights is too short.
I need to approach this like I am going back to Italy which I will be....

so final outline

manchester 4 nights
Venice 3 nights
Florence 3 nights
Milan 1 nights
Paris 7 nights (getting a discount on teh apartment by doing a full week)
London 4 nights
