Italy on my horizon - ideas?

My daughter & I have decided that we should wait until 2022 to go on our Mother/Daughter trip to Italy that was cancelled last year. ...but I have some hotel vouchers with expiration dates ticking. So, I’m possibly thinking about going the end of August for three weeks by myself. I also have a voucher for Rome.

Here’s the rough beginning of an itinerary. I really love some of the smaller places. On the other hand, I need to have reliable train transportation between them. It’s special if I can attend festivals or classical music & arts. Cooking classes or city bike tours have been fun, too. My favorite souvenirs are my photographs and unexpected memories! I should also share that my travel style is active - staying just a few nights at several locations. I am not interested in staying in just three locations, for instance.

Are there any towns in this general area that you have stayed and would recommend in addition or instead of some of these? What did you enjoy most about them?

THANK YOU! Hope we’re all back to traveling soon!

“R” means Returning, i.e. I’ve stayed there previously.
Fly into Milan
Stresa 2-3 nights (use voucher); R
Bergamo - 2 nights
Venice - 4 nights (use voucher); R
Ferrara - 2-3 nights
Ravenna - 2 nights; R
Parma - 2 nights; R (my favorite Italian cathedral is here)
Cremona - 2-3 nights to see & hear the music
Milan - 2-3 nights ; R (use a 1-night voucher)
Fly home

I’ve stayed previously at Lake Como, Verona, Vicenza, Padova, Bologna - enough that I don’t want to include them on this trip.

Modena is a beautiful city. The food culture is amazing, the Duomo and the Ferrari museum is great to visit, even if you are not a car enthusiast! Have a wonderful time.

Since you intend to be in Bergamo, I suggest heading to Lake Iseo for several sights: Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe; Val Camonica, with 15,000 year old rock art; and Prosecco vineyards that go on forever. It’s on my list for this October.
