Hello Folks,
We are travelling on the 13 day My Way tour from Oct 9th to 21st. Then we are travelling on the 22nd to Naples to spend one night. Then on Oct 23rd travelling from Naples to Sorrento. I am looking for anyone from the tour who might be doing the same thing? Or is there anyone out there in the RS world that will also be doing this at the same time want to share some transportation?
We have never been to Italy and have no idea about the public transportation.
I have read many questions on this forum and believe that we could figure out the trains with lots of research.
Suggestions/ideas?
Thanks,
Kerey and Larry
The train system in Italy is great, and really not difficult to deal with. Conversely, you truly don’t want to be driving in Rome or Naples.
The two big train companies are Trenitalia (Trenitalia.com) and Italo (italotreno.com). You can find schedules on their websites - I suggest you try looking up the trips you have in mind, and you’ll see how frequent the trains really are. Dates are in European format (day/month/year), and time is on a 24 hour clock, and you need to put in the earliest time you might be leaving.
You need to use the Italian names of cities. The larger cities have multiple train stations.
Also wanted to mention that you can ask your tour guide for a lesson in using the trains.
Train travel in Europe is enjoyable and not difficult.
Here's a useful site to get you started:

As stated above, your RS guide will help.
