Italy mid November

We will be in Venice, Cinque Terre and Rome mid November. Will only be taking a carry on so wondering what weather is the norm? I will have layers but not expecting cold.

It can get cold in November in Venice and Rome. My best advice is to check the weather forcast the entire week before you leave to see what the trend is and pack accordingly. The weather is so unpredictable that it can change at any time. A few years ago on a trip I packed for cool weather (after watching the weather channels) and had beautiful weather the first two days and a heat wave after that. I ended up buying a few short sleeve shirts while there because all I had packed were sweaters...... Make the best guess you can based on the information at hand. Donna

My family will also be visiting Italy in mid November and we too are planning to take carry on only. We will be doing as Donna suggested. We have been watching the weather lately and while it's comparative to the weather we are experiencing currently at home we plan to take layers. If all else falls we can always make a purchase of few pieces of clothing that would better suit the weather once we are there.

Since Nov. is more unpredictable and you want to pack light, I would avoid heavy shirts and sweaters that are worn in winter months at home, and go with layers including lightweight underwear and down vest that can squish into its pocket and same type down jacket, along with couple pair of jeans, short sleeve shirt, couple of long sleeve shirts, and you are covered for all weather. All don't take up much room and if cold you're happy you brought those lightweight jackets.

I spent most of Nov. in Italy two years ago. The weather was cool and sometimes rainy early in the month. By mid-Nov. I was in Rome and it rained every day. Not all day, but at least for a while every day. I had spent the previous week in Cefalu (Sicily) where it was cool and fairly dreary. I would much prefer to be there in October.
