italy late december

Hi,
I have read all the recent posts and appreciate all the info. WE are going to rome for 5 full days after christmas no travel days included it the 5 days.. Taking our 3 teenagers. We are fast sightseers. Have the hotel Diocleziano booked on a referral from a friend.
Can you all give me a help on a great 4 day itinerary. Wife wants to see tuscany. Know its not the best time but we are celebrating 25 years married while there.
thank you all of you in advance

If you have not been to Rome before I have no idea how you can possibly see anything in less than two full days (3 nights).
If you have 5 nights on the ground available, you could do 2 in Florence (go to Florence by high speed train first upon arrival) then the last 3 in Rome. If you have another night, and don't care about spending another day in Rome, then you can add it to Florence, so you have two full days in each city. If while in Florence you want to take a day trip to Siena, you can, it's only one hour away by bus).
If you intended to visit Tuscany while staying in a hotel in Rome, you need to see an atlas (or Google maps) and look at the distances.
You could potentially take a day trip to Florence, since there is a high speed train that can get you there in less than two hours, but anything else in Tuscany takes too long to reach from Rome.
