We will be in Italy for about 12 days in August. Below is my itinerary (we have already been to Rome, Venice, Florence so we are trying new areas this time). Any thoughts, suggestions are appreciated in regards to it being doable or if we should shorten, lengthen stays in each place (or things we should do in each place). Thanks! We are pretty much staying 3 nights, two full days in each place (except Milan). Day 1-4 Land in Milan-Travel to Lake Como-staying in Bellagio Day 4-7 Siena-visit wineries, San Gim Day 7-10 Cinque Terre-Staying in Monterosso (visit the towns, Portofino)
Day 10-12 Back to Milan to catch flight-See last Supper
Looks perfect to me. I'm so used to seeing something like "Daytrip to Venice from Naples" or some other lunacy that it's refreshing to see such a nicely-paced itinerary.
Thanks! Any must see places, things to do?
That's what guidebooks are for. :-) Srsly, the RS books cover all those places really well. Read them and decide what best matches your interests. Happy travels.
If you have time, you may also enjoy taking a boat to Portovenere while in the C.T. We did this on our last visit here in July 2009 leaving from Vernazza but they leave from other C.T. villages too. We just bought our tkts down at the Vernazza harbor. Info is in the R.S. book. Buon Viaggio!
Picking up my RS book in the a.m. thanks for the Portvenere suggestion!
