Italy Itinerary input

Late September/Early October trip. Let me know what you think of our itinerary: Fly to Milan and immediately travel to: Lake Como-2 nights Venice-2 nights CT-3 nights Florence-3 nights
Rome-3 nights and Fly Home. All travel will be by train except for a day trip car rental in florence. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would shave one day off of CT and add it to Venice. Also consider what you would do if it is raining in CT (which could happen in October). I would also consider hiring a driver/tour for your day trip out of Florence (or taking the bus if you are going to Siena).
Have a great time!

I completely agree with ekc. For CT, try to get a hotel reservation that has a 24 or 48 hour cancellation policy and watch the weather reports. Maybe you could stay on in Venice or spend 2 nights in Siena if the CT weather is inclement. My gut tells me that it'd be better to go from Venice to Florence to CT to Rome. Check the train times. Venice-CT-Florence is backtracking.

Kris, I agree with Chani in terms of the order of your Itinerary. It would be more efficient to travel Lake Como - Venice - Florence - C.T. - Rome. Regarding Lake Como, are you planning to stay in Varenna? BTW, that's a great place to recover from jet lag!

I would skip the CT. Since you will already be in Florence, I would visit some of the lovely towns in Tuscany. It may be too late for the grape harvest but it will still be wonderfull.
