Hi, I would appreciate any comments on my itinerary to Italy (in particular on budgeting enough time at places, incl. transportation, or for any side trip comments) coming up at the end of March. I am hoping to stay pretty busy in order to see a lot of the art, architecture, and culture that these cities offer, but also have time to just enjoy the food and atmosphere. This is my first time in Italy and I'm hoping to see some diverse places. I will be traveling by public transportation and very budget-consciously. Due to visiting distant family, I will definitely need to go to Padova, Ascoli Piceno, and Milan.
Day 1: Arrive in Padova.
Day 2: Padova.
Day 3: Padova (day trip?).
Day 4: Padova, but spend whole day in Venice.
Day 5: Travel to Bologna.
Day 6: More Bologna with side trip to Ravenna.
Day 7: Awake in Bologna, go to Urbino for the day, and arrive in Ascoli Piceno to sleep.
Day 8: Ascoli Piceno.
Day 9: Arrive asap in Rome.
Day 10: Rome.
Day 11: Rome.
Day 12: Awake in Rome, Sleep in Florence, day is flexible.
Day 13: Florence.
Day 14: Florence with side trip to Siena.
Day 15: Florence.
Day 16: Arrive in Milan.
Day 17: Milan, Bergamo.
Day 18: Travel Home.
Sorry this is tough to read; for some reason all of my line breaks didn't work.
Looks reasonable to me. For a day trip from Padova, you might consider Vicenza for the Palladian architecture.
IT sounds like you are probably staying in Padova for free with family, but if you can swing it try to stay one night in Venice proper. Much different experience than being there only in the day and early evening.
Elena: On this site the way to get line breaks is to Edit your original post and put < b r > where you want a line break but omit the spaces (I had to use the spaces to fool the HTML editor). As written, it's discouraging to try to decipher your itinerary.
Elena I think it looks doable. What actual dates will you be in Florence? Where will you be staying in Florence?

Your schedule looks good and looks doable. For your daytrip in Padova I would recommend Verona first, or Vicenza.
Have fun though!
