Italy in September

We are flying into Rome September 15 and return to the USA on September 27 out of Rome. Planing on splitting our time between Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Would it be better to spend time in Rome first or the Coast ? Wondering about the temperature and crowds.

Thank You

hmoyeiii, there probably won't be all that much difference in crowd level or temps over just 13 days. Personally, I'd start at your furthest point (wherever you intend to stay on the Amalfi) and end at the closest point to your departure airport (Rome). I'd only advise staying close to the airport on arrival day if your flight is getting in late; it can take some time to get to the coast. Have you chosen where you'll be staying there?
