Italy in Sept. Swimsuit?

My husband and I will be going on the Venice, Florence and Rome tour Sept 19-28. I know the packing lists say bring a swimsuit. Do you think we will need them?
Also, do most of the hotels have hair dryers?

For each of those places, a trip to the beach would be an effort. Not sure if the tour includes hotels with a pool, might be something to ask.

Hair dryers seem to be hit or miss, but the tours seem to stay in places better than I book.

No, no swimsuit necessary, most people just skinny dip.

No, you will not need a swimsuit. If your room does not have a hair dryer ask for one at the front desk. You can also contact your hotel and ask.

Sorry- Larry’s post just made laugh out loud!
I would check and see if your hotel has a pool to swim in- most unlikely being in the big three cities in Italy. But they may… I have found at the end of a long day, nice to have a rooftop pool to take a dip in. I would check.
As far as a hair dryer/ it’s hit or miss. I suggest you send an email to the front desk and ask, perhaps even request one.
When travelling to Italy, Especially when staying in one of the 3 big cities, you could purchase one at a local department store and then just donate it back to your hotel when you leave. I’ve done that with a hair straightener. Kind of a fun local adventure, however- there may be more exciting things to do rather than go find a hairdryer. I would reach out to the hotel- they are usually so so helpful.
Happy travels!

I can't remember the last time a hotel didn't have a hair dryer in the room. In the rare cases borrow one from the desk.

They may not be where you'd expect - look in the drawers of the desk/dressing table, on top of the ironing board, and other unexpected locations. In all cases the desk will come to your rescue.

Don't bring one from home. If it is not dual voltage it will fry. If it is dual voltage sure you turn the switch or it will fry. If you did turn the switch it will be slow. And they take up a lot of space and weight.

Swimsuits take up so little space and weight, why not (unless it is a 19th century one!)

If you stay in a hotel with a pool and you want to use the pool, you will probably need it.
In the absence of a hotel with pool, in Florence you could swim and sunbathe in the river Arno. I wouldn’t recommend it, but it is an option. In Rome you can do the same in the Tiber river, or also take a short train ride to the beaches in Ostia lido. Swimming in the canals of Venice is also not recommended, but there is a beach at Venezia Lido. None of the above beach locations compare to the Caribbean or to Sardinia, but they are there. In terms of temperature September is generally very warm to hot, so getting in the water is possible.
Skinny dipping is not a common practice in Italy, except for some more secluded locations, however topless is more common, therefore you could save luggage space by packing only the bikini bottom.

Very practical travel tip from Roberto to save space in your bag. I will have to remember that one. As for hair dryers - every place I have ever stayed including rooms in people’s homes has always had a hair dryer. You do not need to take one and with all that extra space in your bag just imagine what you can take. Peanut butter perhaps.

Thank you to everyone for your responses!
I will not be taking a swimsuit or hairdryer. (No one wants to see me topless! Maybe 30 or 40 years ago!)
