Italy in October second half - museum/gallery reservations needed?

Hello
We will be visiting Venice, Florence and Rome this Oct between Oct 15-25. Does that still count as peak season? I understand in peak season its best to book time slots at various museums churches and galleries in these 3 cities - is it needed for our dates in October?
If not needed - I'd rather gave the flexibility and go whenever we can/feel like.
Thanks!

You will definitely need a reservation for the Borghese Gallery in Rome - not to be missed! They limit the number of people visiting at any one time, and limit all visits to two hours. No walk-ins!

I am fortunate to travel to Italy at least twice a year on business and always keep time for "other activities." I can tell you basically there is really no off or shoulder season of consequence any more. It is a "world destination," now. If you can reserve, do it.

JerryG, we are also going in February to Rome, but I was looking at visiting the galleria doria Pamphilj on the Via Del Corso and Villa Farnesina in Trastevere. Hoping the crowds are smaller but we are still booking our tours/tickets ahead of time. We figure less to worry about and more we can prepay the better.
