We are taking a cruise out of Raveena on May 26th - June 6th. Our plan is to arrive early - May 14th in Venice, departing from Rome after a few days there. Looking for suggestions and feedback.
May 12th - arrive Venice from US - hang out, walk around, maybe take a Gondola ride.
May 13th - see sights in Venice - After hours tour - St. Marks Basilica with Doges palace?
May 14th - Murano & Burano Islands Guided Small-Group Tour by Private Boat - see anything else in Venice we missed
Evening of the 14th - train to Milan
May 15th - sights in Milan - last Supper. Etc.
May 16th - Milan Bernina Scenic Train ride on the Swiss Alps. Small-Group
May 17th - Barolo wine Tasting, Alba, UNESCO Castle: Small Group from Milan or Lake Como, Lugano, & Prealps with chocolate tasting. Small group
May 18th - morning train to Florence
Find a place to stay in the center area for 2 nights - see Florence's sights
on the morning of the 20th - rent a car and head out to Tuscany region for 3 nights. I'm thinking about staying in the The Castle of Ferrano - does anyone have any thoughts? Is this a good place to stay and see other regions of the wine country? Chianti?
Morning of the 22nd - return car to Florence - or keep it and drive to Cinque Terre.
May 22 - 25th - stay in Cinque Terre.
Depart Cinque Terre on the 25th and either take a train or drive toward Raveena - our ship departs at 5 PM on the 26th
We dock in Rome on June - 6th- debating on staying an additional 4 or 5 days and just stay in Rome, or taking an extra couple days and going to Amalfi Coast.
Any one have any thoughts on this plan? IS Milan worth the few days there?
Thanks!
