Hello!
My sister and I are planning a 10 day trip to Italy in mid-March. This will be our second trip to Italy, and will be focusing on southern Italy (Amalfi coast, Sorrento, Sicily, etc.) Any advice for off-season travels?
Research and book your stay in advance. We have travelled in coastal Italy off season (also Ireland Dingle Peninsula) and many places are not open, when it is getting dark and you're tired of driving you are often confronted with substandard places at a high price or driving on in desperation. If you don't plan ahead, but do find a place you like, the best shot is to enlist the help of the desk agent or owner at the place you are staying to book the next stop. We ended up at a palace in Lecce (other coast sorry) for a very reasonable price by doing this with the desk agent. They are very happy to help. Amalfi Coast is amazing, beautiful, but quite cool (bone chilling sometimes), so take your silk long johns to enjoy sight seeing. Capri is beautiful! Good day trip. We hiked to the top. You can take a lift too.
Mid-March with 10 days, I would skip the AC and stick to Sicily.
