My son is planning his honeymoon to Italy November 19 - December 6th. They are flying into Venice and out of Rome. We were just in Italy in October 2011 and loved it. However, we are finding a lot of hotels in Cinque Terre villages, Portofino and Sorrento are closed. Also quite a few hotels in the little villages in Tuscany. Any suggestions for places to visits and things to do for that time of year would be greatly appreciated.
Once you get that far off-season it's generally best to stay in the larger cities, with some daytrips in your backpocket to smaller places in case the weather's nice. The resort towns will be shut down, as you're finding. A daytrip to Orvieto from Rome, for example, would be great with decent weather.
