We are traveling through Italy in June and have the following schedule. The question we are struggling with is to stay in Tuscany (and where to stay in Tuscany) and day trip to Florence or to stay some time in Florence too. We have a total of 5 nights between the two.
I think it all depends on how much you want to see in Florence. It may make more sense to stay overnight if you have a lot that you want to see but if you only have a few things on your list you can probably do them as a day trip.

I agree with Donna. Will you have a car? It's not something you'll need if you stay in Firenze but it's necessary if you are planning to stay at an agriturismo.
