Italy in January

Is the weather going to be permissible for a gondola ride in Venice? I have checked on the weather averages and it seems decent enough but anyone have any real world experience on this?? What do you think about Ravenna?

I was in Venice in mid February 2009, my last day there was the first day of Carnevale and it was also Valentine's Day. I believe the temps were in the 40s. I wore a regular- DC area- winter coat and it was fine...didn't go for a gondola ride but I believe they did have blankets in the ones I saw. I did go on a gondola ride in September and then the weather was perfect and so was that day. :) I would recommend selecting a gondola ride that takes you on the back canals...probably less windy and definitley a lot nicer than floating on the Grand Canal.
